950 games in the NHL. Mostly a 3rd or 4th line grinder.
I really like this signing for the fact that this guy will protect his teammates at all costs.
I watched him play quite a bit when he was with Ottawa, and he would show a little bit of
a scoring touch but saw most of his ice when they had the lead to shut down opponents skilled lines.
He should really help these young forwards with there defensive game.

I must say this move is interesting. Seems like management wants more vets on this team.

Ya at least management is trying to put forth a mix of vets and prospects.
At 35 and in the AHL I don't know what to expect out of Donovan.
If he can come in and put up points great, but minimally he'll be good on the PK
and make sure our young guys aren't intimidated. He's not an enforcer by any means
but he won't back down from anyone.

I'm happy to see some movement w/ the roster.....especially in light of Bonino's callup. I think Anaheim is finally realizing that a competitive AHL team can't be ALL young prospects. There needs to be SOME veteran presence. I know it's early but I have been impressed and happy with the defense and goaltending but I think we needed at least 1 more "NHL depth" guy that could put some points up. I know our friend from Rochester will agree that there simply has to be some veteran presence on the scoresheet for an AHL team to be truly competitive. The NHL teams want player development above all, The AHL teams want winning to take precedence and I have to believe there is a way to blend the two....I know --easier said than done. I hope that Shean can make a good impact, both in the room and on the scoresheet.

Plus here in the AHL he will be a scorer. He was the Flames 3rd leading scorer the year they went to the cup.

Saw That Donovan was released from his PTO today. Too bad I think he would have been a great veteran presence.
