Kramer says its an acl tear and mcl sprain. Looks like he'll be out a significant amount of time.
What a bummer

Yeah...it's happening a lot already....Amerks are down Cullen too. Ankle injury I believe.

Kramer talks about now being the time to talk to Denis Hamel. I thought I read he signed a deal in the LNAH. I don't see that league as a good fit for him.

It's hard to believe no one wanted to give him a shot here.

Not good news at all, As for Hamel I would not be upset if he is signed or given a try out but is he as good or even close to as good as Jaffray I have to say no. Who I would not mind seeing is Stephane Veilleux who by the way is on a try out with the Ducks. Would he sign a two way who knows but he would replace Jaffray and also be a great call up for the Ducks.

If I had to pick it would be Veilleux all the way. We are starting the season with very young goaltenders and need two way players more than a cherry picker like Hamel. Veilleux had a very good season the last time he played in the A 59-15-24-39 points. If the Ducks have anythng to say about it Im sure it would be Veilleux . On a depth chart you have a guy that has played the last 5 seasons in the NHL with 287 points in 381 games or Hamel who career NHL stats are 31 points in 192 games. I see that Hamel is only 33 years old, I thought he was in his 40s. I dont have to tell you who the better skater is of the two. If the Ducks dont sign Veilleux Howards might take a chance on Hamel. Hamel would be good for 25-30 goals but only plays on end of the ice.

I think it goes without saying Hamel could bring veteran leadership and a good offensive upside, but if what we're hearing is correct and not 1 AHL team has shown interest in this guy, even on a try out basis. Seems like there are other factors.
As it sits right now, I see this team making up to be very average. It has good "role" type players, but as we all have seen in the past few years, you need 3 or 4 top notch scorers minimum to compete for a Calder Cup. Defense looks ok, goalies- de ja vu anyone?

I think the reason Anaheim aquired Jaffray in the first place was to be the first call up guy when a forward gets injured. I don't see Hamel in that role. Obviously both guys could help the development of the younger players but I think they went after Jaffray for more than that. I wouldn't mind Hamel on the team (especially now with a chip on his shoulder.) but I don't see Anaheim pulling the trigger with that.

That's just it. Hamel will have a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. He is a proven offensive threat in this league as well as a notorious Crunch Killer.

He has a deal in the LNAH but is taking that as a last option. He will make sure his contract has an out for any AHL deal.

Who knows, maybe Hamel got comfortable in his role with the B-Sens and didn't feel the pressure.

I certainly don't see the harm in inviting him to camp. Or even a PTO, assuming he would sign one.

This guy wants to play in North America. Bad. I'd like to see what he's got in his tank.
